High School Girls Flag Football

Welcome to the 2nd annual Minnesota Vikings High School Girls Flag Football League! 

Girls flag football is rapidly growing in popularity and will be an event in the 2028 Summer Olympics.

Team Formation and Participation:

The league features high school teams from across Minnesota, providing a competitive and supportive environment for girls to showcase their skills and passion for football. 

Minnetonka will have a varsity team, JV team, and additional lower-level team.

TRYOUTS - Due to significant interest already this season, tryouts will be held to determine placement of athletes on our teams. Team placement will be based on tryouts and not all athletes will be placed on a team due to significant interest exceeding available roster space. Team placement is subject to change throughout the season. 

• Tryouts will take place the first week of scheduled practice, which is April 7th and April 9th from 7:30-9:30pm. Evaluations will follow a written system with multiple coaches to ensure the process is fair, transparent and objective. 
• To support all athletes in this process (especially those who are new), we will have two pre-season learning sessions without an evaluation component. These sessions will introduce essential skills, rules and concepts so athletes can approach tryouts with confidence. These pre-season sessions will take place on March 22nd and April 6th evenings.

*A refund will be processed for any athlete who is not placed on a team.

Game Schedule:
Regular-season games take place on Sunday afternoons, featuring double‑headers on:

• April 26th
• May 3rd
• May 10th
• May 17th

Playoffs will begin on May 31st, leading up to the State Tournament on June 8th at the Minnesota Vikings TCO Performance Center.

Practice:

Teams will practice beginning after spring break primarily on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 7:30pm, with some makeups on Fridays and Mondays.
