Tonka Rec Basketball League: Grades 4-5

Registration: Registrations will be accepted on a space-available basis through Sunday, October 4. If your child's age group is in "waitlist" status when you register, it means that teams are full or the registration deadline has passed. Please complete the registration to be placed on the waitlist (your credit card will not be charged unless you are placed on a team). You will be contacted if we can get your child on a team. If you register after October 4 and your child is placed on a team, a $30 late fee will be assessed, and player requests may not be available.

Fee: $175 if registered on or before October 4. $205 if registered after October 4.

Open Gym: New this year, we are offering an open gym package for anyone participating in our rec basketball program. This will cost an additional $30 to your registration fee but will allow you to have an unlimited pass to attend all our open gym sessions during the fall and winter months. The usual charge is $5 per person during each session; however, if you register with the open gym package, it will be at a significant discount. This offer is only available to our rec basketball participants. We have 17 sessions of open gym scheduled running on Wednesdays from October 21st to March 3rd (excl. Nov. 25, Dec. 23 & 30). Open gym will be held at Groveland Elementary inside the bleacher gym from 6 – 8 PM.

Team Formation: Teams will be formed based on gender, grade level, school attendance, availability of volunteer coaches and teammate/sibling requests. Players may request to be placed on the same team as one other player when registering. Teammate/sibling requests will be taken into consideration, provided the player you request also requests you. Only one request per player is allowed. Please note that although we try to accommodate these requests, they are not guaranteed.

Coaches Needed!: Have fun coaching your son or daughter and teammates! We'll provide curriculum, support and training, including a preseason meeting. Coaches should be able to attend most weekly practices and Saturday games. Please note your interest in coaching during the registration process.

Uniform: Players will receive a Minnetonka basketball reversible jersey. Players should wear athletic clothing and non-marking gym shoes. Players are required to bring a basketball to each practice/game. Grade 4 uses a junior-size basketball (size 27.5). Grade 5 uses an intermediate-size basketball (size 28.5). Basketballs will be available for purchase at the Minnetonka Community Education Center in early fall.

Hoop Height: 10 Feet

Refunds: Refunds, minus a $10 cancellation fee, will be given for cancellations received on or before October 4.
