Middle School Cheer TeamCheerleadingDiscover the excitement of cheerleading in a fun, team-oriented, and competitive setting. Coaches will focus on safety, teamwork, sportsmanship and making positive choices to help athletes improve their skills and prepare for advanced cheer teams in the future. The Middle School Competitive Cheer team is designed for grades 5-8 and is focused on fostering development in the sport of cheerleading. Previous cheer/gymnastics/dance experience is helpful for participating on this team, but not mandatory. The season runs June to January. June through August summer practices are from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesdays at Groveland Elementary. Practices will occur each Wednesday following the first practice on June 23rd. September-January practices are Tuesdays and Wednesday nights at Minnetonka Middle School East from 6:00 - 8:00 pm. This is a competitive team - all practices are mandatory and critical to team safety and success. Participants are expected to fully commit to the team and be present prior to signing up and becoming a member. The team will perform at middle school sporting events, community events, and local/state cheer competitions. *Please Note The Universal Cheer Association (UCA) states that participants must attend a school within the Minnetonka district to be eligible for this Minnetonka program. Teams will be formed for social connection and scrimmages. Sessions are 40 minutes long, same time each week. Parents are asked to help coach. Get vertical with climbing games and challenges or push yourself to climb higher! No experience is necessary. Minneapolis Bouldering Project will focus on safety, etiquette and the fundamentals of bouldering. In addition to our focus on fun, all camps promote awareness and understanding of climbing safety. Our instructors are passionate about climbing and are excited to introduce the participants to the world of bouldering while helping them build confidence and learn fundamental climbing techniques. You will leave camp with a new respect for physical strength and mental toughness. Please bring lunch, a water bottle and a couple of snacks. Minnetonka Cheer Summer ClinicCheerleadingJoin the Minnetonka cheerleaders and coaches to learn motions, jumps, stunts, and Minnetonka cheers while building confidence through practice and a fun performance. Designed for future cheerleaders in grades K-5 and 6-8, the clinic will be divided into elementary and middle school groups. Participants will perform their routines for parents during the last half hour of the camp. Please bring a water bottle, lunch, a snack, and wear athletic shoes with comfortable clothing.Summer 2026 -
Minnetonka Elementary Run ClubRunning & FitnessImprove your overall fitness and learn the essentials of proper form, drills, hydration and nutrition, proper warm-up and cool down, breathing, stretching and pacing. Kids should be prepared each meeting to run continuously for at least ½ to 1 ½ miles, depending on their grade. Participants will meet their coach in front of the school each morning. These 50-minute sessions are on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings. Times will vary according to which school the child attends. Students will be brought back into the school at the school's first bell. Participants are encouraged to bring warm and comfortable clothing, running shoes, a water bottle and a breakfast snack for afterward. Participants are provided with a Run Club t-shirt. Open to students in grades 2-5. We will end the program with a Track Meet on Sunday, October 11th at 1:30 PM at the Minnetonka High School Track and Field. Parents will be able to sign their athlete up for two events. The sign-up will be sent out closer to the track meet (once students have a better understanding of which events they may want to compete in). Events include a 1-mile run, 800m run, 400m run, 200m run, and a 100m Dash. Following the kids' races, we will be having a parent/adult 400m run, so come ready to run!Fall 2026 -
Minnetonka High School FencingFencing - High SchoolLearn new skills, basic techniques and train to compete! Explore all three Fencing Weapons: Epee, Sabre & Foil. Emphasizing blade work, footwork and balance. Open to all levels of experience! All materials are provided for this program. Each practice will begin with a warm up move into drills and finish with open bouting. *Optional competitions may be available at an additional cost to the participant. Competitions are around $50 each and students must compete in 2 competitions to qualify for the State Tournament. Sixth Graders cannot compete in the competitions. Coached by Maria Benford and Minnetonka Sword Play: Trained in Cuba for the Olympic team. Current head coach of Southwest Christian High School, a former head coach at St. Catherine College and St. Mary's High School.Fall 2026
